K&M Camera opened its first store over 40 years ago, in 1976. It was located in the Gramercy section of Manhattan and was a mere 800 square feet in size. We set out to make exceptional photography gear affordable through its sales -providing a quality supply of equipment for the pro and for the novice alike.
As word spread about our services, K&M began to hire skilled, local talent, who were dedicated to great customer service and were deeply passionate about photography and videography.
Since 1976, the most important element of our success has always been our dedicated, passionate, and loyal
customers. We have been entrusted by our customers, who have allowed us to be a part of their photographic and cinematic journeys, to provide the best of equipment for exactly what they needed. Since opening our first store, customers have depended on the K&M team to provide extensive selections of cameras, lenses, lighting kits, audio equipment, and production support systems.
Today
Because of this satisfied customer base, our business has grown and we have expanded several times. Now located in Tribeca, our current store features a beautiful modernized showroom with different areas to explore. We provide interactive displays where the newest, state-of-the-art gear can be viewed and specs analyzed.
The updated boutique décor offers an inviting shopping experience and our knowledgeable staff can answer all your questions. We are an authorized dealer for all the brands that we sell, and all products are backed by the manufacturer's warranty.
Additionally, because the way that people interact with their cameras has changed, we've progressed as well. While K&M originally started as a camera and photography store, we now offer a complete line of professional audio equipment, video equipment, apparel, outdoors and sporting goods, along with our famous selection of camera and photo equipment.
K&M is also one of the largest rental houses in NYC. One look at our Pro Rental Department and you will see why. We offer Canon, Nikon, Hasselblad, Mamiya, Profoto, Apple, and many other high-end photography brands. We offer thousands of products for rent, enabling everyone to get the most out of their photo and video shoots. Our goal is to make sure you can get everything you need to explore your world, capture your moments, and live your life-all at one location. Rentals can be easily made in the store or through our website. We deliver to all 5 boroughs of New York City.

From the beginning K&M has been a family managed business. While we have dynamically expanded and grown, we have never lost our connection to the community we serve and the friendships we have made.
