Sidewalk Shed Removed and New Cement Getting Ready at Long-Stalled New Construction on the Corner of Grand and Essex Streets

It’s been years in the making but finally the end is near. The stalled construction project looks ready for completion. This past week workers removed the main shed surrounding the building and have begun tearing up the sidewalk in preparation for new curbs and fresh cement. It’s great when an obstruction gets cleared and this one was a nuisance.

Looking back, I was just 13 when Joe’s Pizza opened in the commercial space of this building. My this corner has come a long way, as has the entire neighborhood.
