Kinky’s Dessert Bar

Kinky’s Dessert Bar New York City’s first adult bakery, cheekily celebrating two of America’s favorite things and bringing them under one roof: desserts and sex. The team behind it is married couple and food entrepreneurs August and John DeWindt, of Fluffy’s and John’s Juice. The creative force behind the concept, August created Kinky’s Dessert Bar as a fun, sex-positive and gender inclusive space where guests 18 and over can enjoy naughty waffles, cookies and cupcakes. Her décor design is playful and sexy with vintage adult posters and drawings, an S&M-themed bathroom, secret speakeasy-style lounge, and a pink and purple color scheme – pink for love and romance, purple for spirituality. The storefront design is based on a vintage ice cream parlor, but for adults. (Must be 18 to enter.)

New to the U.S., Kinky’s signature waffles ($8), available in the shapes of male (Dicky) and female (Va-JayJay) parts, are filled with an array of homemade creams in different flavors and glazes, such as Oh Behave with vanilla cream filling and maple glaze; Chocolate Orgasm (double chocolate filling, chocolate glaze); Talk Dirty to Me Strawberry (strawberry cream and glaze); Beg For More Banana (banana pudding and glaze); Slutty Cinnamon (cinnamon roll cream and cream cheese frosting) and Freak Like Me Apple, a gluten free waffle filled with homemade apple pie and glazed with cinnamon apple. The erotic waffles started popping up in Taiwan’s night markets several years ago, then in Bangkok and Spain, and during the pandemic in Paris, London and Toronto.

While all the existing places focus on male-shaped waffles, August is celebrating female body parts with breasts (and more) on vividly decorated cupcakes ($5) with names like Spank Me (strawberry cupcake and buttercream); Your Fantasy (cocoa infused chocolate cupcake with chocolate buttercream);  I Like it Rough (red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting); Do it Anywhere, a plant-based chocolate cupcake with dark chocolate vegan buttercream and more. Cookies ($4) are topped with fondant with images of varying explicitness, from expressions like Eat Me (sugar cookie with fruity pebbles) to graphic representations like Taste Me (double chocolate fudge cookie), Lick Me (oatmeal raisin) and Tease Me (vegan chocolate chip), among others.
