Explore the delicious pairing of orange wines with modern Chinese food from a former Bonnie’s chef at a new pop-up and a deep dive tasting of wines from one of the world’s trendiest regions at Orange Glou on the LES after Memorial Day. Made with white grapes and the skins staying in contact with the juice during pressing, orange (aka skin-contact) wines are not only unique and delicious, they are also super versatile and work with different cuisines, which guests can experience at Orange Glou, a one-of-a-kind gastronomic destination in NYC and the world’s first and only shop dedicated exclusively to orange wines.
Orange Wine & Modern Chinese Pop-Up May 28-29
Orange Glou founder, natural wine sommelier and orange wine expert Doreen Winkler and Chef Tristan Kwong, formerly of Bonnie’s in Williamsburg, are pairing modern Chinese cuisine with skin-contact wines at this May 28-29 pop-up with sessions at 6pm, 7:15pm and 8:30pm both days. Chef Tristan Kwong, aka the Fruitsomm, blends tastes from his childhood growing up in an immigrant household in Queens with the flavors of NYC with a menu that puts modern twists on Chinese classics and celebrates the world of fruit and its prominent role in Asian culture. Doreen will complement each dish with a delicious orange wine, showcasing their versatility and affinity with Chinese flavors. The menu with wines is $60 per person (tickets):
