Fugazi Clothing Store, and Le Gaz Coffee, Coming to Canal and Orchard Streets

We stopped in today to check on the progress of the construction of the shop and bumped into one of the owners, Nick. He said the shop should be open before the end of the month.

Fugazi is a modern day streetwear brand. On their website they describe the brand as “a post-structuralist commentary on streetwear and the modern-day consumerist phenomenon. The brand’s take on fashion and clothing is rooted in the new sincerity of metamodernism. The brand exists as a study on the nature of streetwear; critiquing how something as simple as an everyday garment holds power within contemporary society while at the same time partaking in the grand charade that is “fashion.” The symbol shatters itself while simultaneously being constructed.”

This is their first retail location, their flagship location, and as part of their business model, they’re also opening a coffee shop in the front section of the store named Le Gaz. Nothing like a cuppa’ to help with the shopping.
