Ludlow Studios
40 Ludlow Street
New York, NY 10002
Brought to you by owner Bjorn Brandt. The first part of the space is the Café at Ludlow Studios. It serves as a coffee shop for the public, and also for cast and crew for the space. Intelligentsia Coffee will be featured in the café which is equipped with a Norwalk cold-press juicer, and a La Marzocco fully-automatic espresso maker. The entire space is rentable, i.e. if a photographer wants to rent the space for a day, he or she can effectively rent the ‘Café’ as well. The primary space, or the majority of the square footage, will serves as a multi-use. It’s primarily a Photo / Video studio, but also serves as an event space, and a gallery.
The cyclorama (seamless background the photo and video industry uses for shooting on), is a 90˚ full-cove seamless. The space has 400-amp 3-phase power. Also, all of the walls are plywood-backed, to provide for hanging heavy artwork. Finally, the basement is built out similar to a speakeasy from the 1920′s / Prohibition era – New York style. That space, which is also rentable by the evening, features a Steinway baby grand piano and double bass, and musicians are available to play for events. Bring in your own catering.
